Brief History
Bal Uddhar Secondary School (BUSS) is a model community school located in Kapan, Ward No. 10 of Budhanilkantha Municipality, Kathmandu, under Bagmati Province, Nepal. The school was established in 1990 A.D. (2046 B.S.) with the remarkable support and contributions of local residents, education enthusiasts, intellectuals, political leaders, and well-wishers. Since its inception, the school has been committed to providing quality education and contributing significantly to the holistic development of its students.
The school was founded in response to the growing need for a strong community-based educational institution capable of delivering quality education to students in the region. Since then, it has continuously served the educational aspirations of students, parents, and the local community. The establishment and development of the school have been made possible through the valuable contributions of many known and unknown individuals.
At present, the school serves approximately 1,400 students, ranging from Play Group to Grade 12. Students from more than 56 districts of Nepal are currently enrolled, receiving quality education in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Despite various economic and geographical challenges, Bal Uddhar Secondary School has become a preferred educational destination for students seeking a brighter future.
The school offers both General and Technical Education under the affiliation of the National Examination Board (NEB). The general stream provides education from ECD to Grade 12, while the technical stream offers Computer Engineering from Grades 9 to 12. At the higher secondary level (Grades 11 and 12), the school offers programs in Science, Computer Engineering, Management, Education, Humanities, and Law.
Bal Uddhar Secondary School believes that quality education is not merely theoretical but a process that should be experienced, practiced, and applied in real life. Therefore, the school emphasizes practical learning experiences alongside classroom instruction. To ensure a safe, organized, and technology-friendly learning environment, the entire school premises are monitored through a 24-hour CCTV surveillance system.
In 2077 B.S., the school was officially selected as a “Model Community School” by the Government of Nepal and the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD). This recognition reflects the institution’s excellence in educational quality and school management.
The school currently employs 58 qualified, experienced, and professionally trained teachers, supported by 3 dedicated non-teaching staff members. Together, they work tirelessly to ensure academic excellence and institutional growth.
Beyond academics, the school places significant emphasis on sports, science, literature, social service, and co-curricular activities. Various clubs and extracurricular programs are conducted to develop students’ leadership skills, creativity, and sense of social responsibility. The school also prioritizes discipline, moral education, and positive values as essential components of student development.
The school has consistently achieved outstanding results in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
